Reading your meter & billing procedures
Billing Information | Capital Credits | Disconnects and Policies | Other Billing Situations | Paying your bill | Reading your meter
Federated members read their own meters unless you have a seasonal, large power or
commercial account. You should read your meter on approximately the 1st of each month.
Write this reading on the part of the bill you return to Federated. By reading your meter
on the same day each month you make it easier to compare one month's bill with another.
Each billing period will then have about the same number of days.
Members with special load management equipment may have to read more than one meter. Meters that are connected to off-peak electrical heating systems and other load management equipment are normally located in the basement. Read these meters at the same time you read the main meter. Write these meter readings on the part of the bill you return to Federated.
It is very important that your payment and
meter readings arrive by the 10th of the month. If we do not receive your meter reading,
we will estimate your electricity use for one month and assess you a penalty. When we
estimate a reading, the bill may be higher or lower than you expect and may cause you
payment problems.
Your meter reading is estimated for one month only. If we do not receive a meter reading for two months in a row, your meter will be read by cooperative personnel and you will be assessed a $25 charge.
Billing for member electricity use is one month delayed at Federated. For example, the bill you receive July 1st is for May's electricity. Coop read accounts are for the current use of electricity.
Electric bills are due on the 10th of each month. If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, payments are due the next working day. Payments received after your due date will be assessed a penalty as shown on your bill.
