Federated Events
Apply for a $1,000 Basin Scholarship by February 5, 2008Federated members who have a son/daughter (including step children/dependents), who will be a senior in high school senior, or a college freshman, sophomore or junior, may apply. Fill out the application, write an essay on the topic in the application and have an adult appraisal completed. The deadline is February 5, 2008. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for our co-op. The recipient will be selected based on academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school/community activities, honors, work experience, goals and outside appraisal.
Details on Federated's Operation Round Up Scholarships for 2008 high school seniors will be available by early March.
Teens: win a free trip
to Washington, D.C. Apply by February 29, 2008
Enter Federated's Youth Tour Contest. Write an essay on an energy-related
topic (300 words or less) and complete an application. Download the application and details. The first 15
applicants receive a $20 gift certificate to Amazon.com. Five finalists are
selected for interviews. The winner attends Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. June
14-19. Second place receives $150 and is the first alternate.
Third place earns $100. 2007's trip winner was Alyssa Nelson, Jackson.

Home Shows in March 2008
Federated exhibits at two March events: Fairmont's Home Show in the Fairmont Mall
March 7-9 and Jackson's Farm and Home Show in the
Jackson AgCo Training Center March 15. Pick up information on money-saving programs, new
services, and chat with a Federated employee. Register to win the door prize also!
Operation Round Up
applications
The deadline for the next round of Operation Round Up applications is
February 1. Funds will be distributed by April. Funds are awarded twice a year
in the spring and at the November Annual Meeting. Under this program, members bills are rounded up
to the next dollar. These cents go to the Trust Fund and are returned to worthwhile local
projects.
Coal Creek Tour 
Join us on the Coal Creek Tour in July 22-24 2008. During this
three-day trip, members tour the Coal Creek power plant, Falkirk Mine and
Garrison Dam near Bismarck, North Dakota. A fun evening is spent enjoying
the Pitchfork Fondue and Medora Musical near the Theodore Roosevelt National
Park. Call the office to pay and book your seats.
Renewable Energy Tour
Join us on for a two-day trip to the Twin Cities in 2008. See how our wholesale power supplier turns garbage into electricity.
Learn how methane is also used to generate electricity. That first night
we'll also enjoy supper a Twins baseball
game. We'll depart for home the next day, but first tour the Trimont Wind
Farm and Lakefield Junction Peaking Plant near Trimont. Paying for the trip
reserves your seats. Call or stop by the office; ask for Andrea.
